Peace That Starts Within

"Peace be within your walls and security within your towers!  For my brothers and companions' sake I will say, “Peace be within you!” Psalm 122:7-8"

It's God's desire that we live in peace with ourselves and others.
Unfortunately, we live in a fallen, broken world where peace seems elusive. Yet, we can know, without a doubt, that God longs for us to experience the peace that only comes from Him.

It's interesting that the psalmist starts by saying, "Peace be within your walls," and ends by saying, "Peace be within you!" Truly, as the old song says, peace on earth begins within each of us. Even when everything around us feels like a war, God has given us every tool we need to live at peace with Him and others.

When life feels anything but peaceful, we can remember that peace doesn't come from without... it comes from within.

"Dear Father, show me Your peace. When life is chaotic and people around me are mean, remind me of Your presence. Amen."
