Finding joy and purpose in your daily work
- 1 min reading time
Have you ever caught yourself blaming Adam and Eve for all the evil in this world? Or all the hard work we have to do? I know I have đ . Itâs easy to think that because of their mistake, our days are filled with toil and sweat. But the truth is, work wasnât a result of the fall, it's not a punishment, it existed before it. (By the way, Iâm pretty sure anyone else in Adam or Eveâs place would have eaten the prohibited fruit.)
God placed Adam in the garden to work it and take care of it long before the serpent showed up, before Eve took that fruit. Work was part of Godâs good design from the very beginning.
We were created in His image, the image of a Creator who found deep joy and satisfaction in His own work. And He wants us to experience that same joy: the fulfillment that comes from building, cultivating, creating, and serving.
Work is a gift. It gives us purpose, rhythm, and the chance to reflect Godâs character in what we do. At the end of the day, He wants us to be able to look at our efforts and say, âThis is good.â To rest knowing weâve added value to othersâ lives and honored Him through our diligence. Can you say you're honoring Him through your work?
And hereâs something beautiful... even in eternity, work wonât end. We wonât just linger around... weâll continue to serve, but in perfect joy, free from frustration or fatigue. đ
I donât know the season youâre living in right now. Maybe youâre facing hardships, or maybe your days are full and busy in a different way. Whatever your situation, remember that God gives work as a gift, an opportunity to glorify Him and grow in purpose.
"Lord, thank You for the work You have placed before me. Help me to see it as a gift, to serve with joy, and to honor You in all I do. Give me strength, patience, and a heart that delights in Your purposes, both now and forever. Amen."
