Be an encourager

Wouldn't it be nice if, just once, Christ called us to do the easy thing? Instead, He calls us to do what others don't want to do. We are to love our enemies, bless those who curse us, and encourage those who verbally and emotionally beat us down.
How in the world are we supposed to do that?
The truth is, God wants to take us to a place beyond ourselves. He wants us to live on a higher plane. When we surrender to His will for our lives and say, "I can't do it, God, but I know You can," He works miracles. He changes our hearts, and He often changes the hearts of those around us. Often, that change begins with an encouraging word to another person, even when it's the last thing we want to do.
"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up,
just as in fact you are doing." 1 Thessalonians 5:11
When we encourage others, God begins a cycle of love that will come back to us many times over.
Dear Father, help me to be an encourager! Amen.
