The closer you get to another person, the more influence you will have on that person's life. And that brings up some important questions:

  • Who are you getting close to?
  • Who are you pouring your life into?
  • Will you one day be able to join the apostle Paul in saying, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race" (2 Timothy 4:7) because you have equipped others to excel in following the Lord and serving Him?

Remember that it's not numbers or stature that's important here. Influencing your children and those closest to you takes priority over those outside your home. And it's far better to influence a few people well than many people poorly. Adhering to these principles will help you to finish the race well.

"Father, does my family feel close to me? Whom am I influencing for good? Help me to be a good steward of the relationships You have given me. Amen."
