Do you have a borrowed faith?
In 2 Chronicles 24, we meet King Joash. A young ruler who was crowned as a child and guided by the priest Jehoiada, Joash did what was right in the eyes of the Lord as long as Jehoiada lived. But after Jehoiada's death, Joash drifted. He listened to ungodly counsel, abandoned the temple of the Lord, and even ordered the stoning of Jehoiadaâs son. His downfall wasnât sudden. It was rooted in the absence of his own personal walk with God.
Thereâs a sobering truth here: faith borrowed is faith at risk. Joashâs devotion was tied to someone elseâs faith. When Jehoiada was gone, so was Joashâs spiritual anchor. We can grow up in godly families, attend church faithfully, or be surrounded by believers... and still not know God personally.
đ Thatâs why the phrase âGod has no grandchildrenâ is so relevant.
Relationship with God isnât inherited, itâs chosen. God invites each of us to be His child, not merely someone who lives in the shadow of others' faith. We must ask: is our faith rooted in someone elseâs convictions, or is it born out of our own daily walk with the Lord?
Let Joashâs story be a call to examine the foundation of your faith. Are you leaning on others, or are you leaning on God? He doesnât just want you near Him, He wants you to know Him. And the good news? His arms are always open to adopt you, not as a grandchild, but as His own. â¤ď¸

"Lord, I donât want to live on borrowed faith. Help me to know You for myself. To trust You with all my heart. Be my foundation, my guide, and my strength. In Jesusâ name, amen."
