A Birthday Tradition That Changed Me

A Birthday Tradition That Changed Me

  • 1 min reading time

I have a dear friend who, every year on my birthday, texts me early in the morning to say she’s praying for me right at that moment. Year after year. I learned this habit from her, and now I do the same for my friends’ birthdays, because I can’t think of a better gift than a prayer from someone who loves you.

In a time when our attention is so fragmented, knowing that someone is thinking of you and setting aside a special moment just for you is priceless.

This week, we celebrate Thanksgiving. Enjoy your loved ones. Be fully present with them, no distractions. And think of someone who may be far away. Let them know you’re thinking of them and praying for them. Ask if they have a specific prayer request. Be the bridge between earth and heaven. Choose to be a sweet gift, pouring your time and love into the people around you.

“Heavenly Father, thank You for the blessing of knowing You, because through You I can share love with others. Keep my heart on fire for You every day of my life, counting each day as if it were my last, not wasting any of it. Thank You for every blessing You give me. May You find in me a grateful heart. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
